Praising the Province for Always Taking the Lead

One day in July some years ago, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited the Tree Nursery of Kangwon Province. Looking round the nursery, he highly praised the officials there for firmly consolidating material and technical foundations for stable production of saplings by completing the colossal project in a short span of time by the province itself and successfully solving problems arising in the management and operation of the nursery over the past one year. His generous praise greatly excited the officials. On the day the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said that he feels happy about giving assignments to this provincial Party committee, which always takes the lead in the implementation of Party’s policies, and that he would like to give as much help as possible to the officials in the committee who always make every effort to do even a bit more by themselves. Then, he took measures on the spot to solve urgent problems arising in the economic work of the province.

More Powerful than Nuclear Weapons

One day, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited the Pyongyang Condiment Factory. Looking at a production building, he asked the officials which unit had built it. One of them replied that it was built by the staff of the factory itself. Noting that it was praiseworthy to have upgraded the production lines and established the production culture and life culture, and yet more important was that they modernized their factory on their own strength by giving full play to spiritual strength of the producer masses, he stressed that it is just more powerful than nuclear weapons.

Phone Call at Lunch Time

One day President Kim Il Sung phoned up an official who was in charge of school affairs. Having asked him kindly if he had had lunch, the President said that he happened to find some primary school pupils in uniforms with some of their buttons off while looking round the street. As soon as the President asked him if he had any idea to solve the problem, he replied he would take immediate measures. Saying that warning those naughty children with words was not a solution, the President told him to seek appropriate methods, before asking him once again if he had any plans for it. He was not able to give a prompt response. Then, the President suggested his idea, which was to make every teacher-in-charge and instructor of Children’s Union keep small button bags in their drawers of tables to help them whenever necessary. The official found himself deeply moved by his instructions full of warm affection towards children, when all of a sudden the very sound from the receiver froze him. The faint clink must have been that of a spoon and chopsticks. (He has been so worried about the buttons of children that he forced himself to make a phone call during lunch.) The official felt tears welling up in his eyes.

Personally Planting Rice Seedlings

One day in June, Juche 36 (1947), President Kim Il Sung came out to the Mirim Field. Saying that he was going to join the farmers there for rice-planting, the President headed towards a rice paddy. At that moment, one of the officials brought him a pair of wellingtons. The President declined the boots and stepped into the paddy, saying that farmers had never worn wellingtons for rice planting and that he would prefer bare feet like them. The paddy was lively and full of cheerful laughter like a happy family working altogether. When one of the officials was about to plant a seedling before the President, the President said: You do not need to help others. As we are all here for rice-planting, everyone has to fulfill their assignments. Then, the President started planting with a bright smile. The President made the work joyful, lest the officials and farmers should feel constrained even a bit in his presence. Indeed, nowhere in the world can we find such a great man as the President, who planted rice seedlings with farmers without ceremony.

Scent of Officials

It was one day in June, Juche 59 (1970). Chairman Kim Jong Il was talking to an official about the need for Party officials to be possessed of generosity, humanity and benevolence in addition to being well versed in the Party’s mass line. Even if all flowers look fragrant, the movement of bees and butterflies makes clear which is really fragrant and which is not, said the Chairman, adding that the same law holds true for human life. He continued: Just as flowers with sweet smell attract bees and butterflies, so can only warm-hearted Party officials be popular with people. The fragrance of Party officials is just humanity and benevolence. Humanity and benevolence can be said to be the scent of humans that makes a person admirable. Explaining that bees and butterflies fly onto fragrant flowers because fragrant ones have nectar for them to live on, and that flowers emit fragrance because they can be pollinated to produce seeds only when bees and butterflies flock to them, he said that the relationship between the Party and the people is just the same as that. Then, he stressed that the popular masses can carve out their destiny and glorify their political integrity only when they are led by the Party, their vanguard organization, with their destiny entrusted to it, and that the Party can emerge victorious in a revolution only when it rallies the popular masses behind itself.

World of Fantasy

The opening ceremony of Yangdok Hot Spring Resort that was held with splendor in the presence of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un several years ago touched people’s heartstrings. Yangdok Hot Spring Resort was built wonderfully as a comprehensive and modern service base in a brief span of less than a year in such difficult conditions. In the opening ceremony, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said with great pleasure that the wish of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il, who were so solicitous about building our people a cultural resort in Yangdok area, which had been famous for hot springs from olden times, had come true. Yangdok Hot Spring Resort is indeed a world of fantasy based on the wish, the desire of Comrade Kim Jong Un to show the people all the love of the great leaders, who devoted their all to the happiness of the people.
