Pushing a Trolley in Person

It was one day several years ago when the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited a shop in Pyongyang City. Going round the different places of the shop, he was acquainting himself in detail with the management and service, when he personally entered a goods display section with a shopping trolley. When one of the officials hurried towards him to push it along instead, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un told him that he was going to carry some biscuits in the trolley, which brought a smile to the faces of the accompanying officials. Even then, however, they never knew why he bothered to do so in person. The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un pushed the trolley around between the shelves stacked with goods so as to fully examine whether shoppers might feel any inconvenience or not. At last, the officials came to realize his intention. Looking up to the benevolent image of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, who shows a meticulous concern to ensure their service activities flawless, they were really impressed.

Meal on the Road

When he was inspecting the field training ground of a unit of the Korean People’s Army one day, Chairman Kim Jong Il dropped in at the field kitchen. It was about lunchtime, so the kitchen cart was giving out hot steam and the soldiers on the cook’s duty were busy preparing lunch. The Chairman took a look one by one at the dishes prepared for soldiers and at the pile of various kinds of foodstuffs on the cooking board. Then, he strode onto the cart and opened the pot lids one after another, saying that he wanted to see what soup was ready for the soldiers. After a while, the Chairman suggested leaving as it was time for the soldiers to have lunch. After some time of his journey, he asked the driver to pull the car to the roadside for lunch. What was waiting for him was little more than a glass of water and a rice-ball. With a broad smile on his face, the Chairman told the officials that he found himself even before his simple roadside lunch happy at the fact that the soldiers were enjoying a square meal with warm boiled rice and meat soup even in the period of field training.

Our Beautiful Motherland

In the early months of Juche 17 (1928), Comrade Kim Il Sung was working heart and soul to implant the soul of Korea in the hearts of youth and children in Fusong. During those days, he personally wrote a poem and set it to music. He gave it a title “Song of Korea”. An immortal classic work “Song of Korea”, which was subsequently carried in a newspaper “Saenal”, spread far and wide instilling the feeling of love for the country and revolutionary optimism into the minds of youth and children and people. Every line and tune of “Song of Korea” expresses the beauty of our motherland, which has been called Joson from olden times since it was known as the land of the morning calm, and the pride in our nation with rich natural resources and a time-honoured history and culture. As described in the song, our motherland was, for him, by far the most beautiful country comparable to nothing else in the world and the most valuable entity that we should glorify forever by ourselves. Comrade Kim Il Sung was indeed a peerless patriot who had noble intention as early as in his teens to restore and glorify to the world our beautiful country good to live in by the efforts of our people only.

Ideal Place for Learning

It was one day in August, Juche 51 (1962) when Comrade Kim Jong Il was conducting revolutionary activities at Kim Il Sung University. Sitting together with some students, he gave precious instructions that Mt Paektu is the sacred mountain of revolution associated with the revolutionary history of President Kim Il Sung. That day Comrade Kim Jong Il spoke highly of the students who had reached Mt. Paektu walking along Kapsan-Musan Guard Road from Pochonbo. He told them that any revolutionary of our times should be aware of Mt. Paektu and learn from the revolutionary spirit of Paektu, and that in the past Mt. Paektu was a beacon of hopes for our people and at present it is an ideal place for grasping the firm foundations of our revolution, stressing that the visit they had made was not a mere visit but a meaningful study tour for acquiring the revolutionary spirit of Paektu.

Komdok Relates

In August several years ago, the area of Komdok was devastated by a severe typhoon that had swept across the east coast area and by successive floods. The damage was so severe that the officials had no idea what to do. Mere restoration to the status quo alone had to take several years. The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un learnt about the situation of the Komdok area and took a decisive measure of issuing an order for reconstruction to the People’s Army. He was always solicitous even after indicating detailed orientation and ways for rehabilitation. Saying that the very thought of the people in the disaster area kept him awake, he acquainted himself with knotty problems and gave solutions to them almost every day. Repeated measures of love reaching the rehabilitation site made the soldiers cherish more deeply in their minds the consciousness that they are members of the people’s army and enlist their mental strength to the maximum for the good of the people. His warm affection brought about a miracle of transforming the appearance of the disaster area in a little more than two months that was said to take years to restore itself to the original state.

Difficult Yet Worthwhile

One day some years ago, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un made an inspection tour of the newly-built Pyongyang Bag Factory as his first field-guidance of the new year and he went round different parts of the production site. Watching the bags in different shapes and colours suited to the tastes, interests and aesthetic senses of children and schoolchildren, he felt delighted as if he was picturing our happy children laughing boisterously from and to school with our own stylish bags on their backs. He told the officials: It is not easy to produce school bags as well as school uniforms, notebooks and textbooks on our own strength. But now that I have done another difficult but worthwhile job, I am full of pride. I regard it as pleasure and happiness.
