Hydroelectric Power Station Embossed on National Em...

One spring night in 1948 was wearing on in silence. However, President Kim Il Sung kept looking at the design of the national emblem, when Comrade Kim Jong Suk, the anti-Japanese war heroine, calmly approached him. He was in deep thought for a long while looking at the large furnace drawn in the centre of the national emblem and asked what she thought of putting something related to electrification instead of the furnace. After some minutes in thought, she said agreeing to his idea that it would be a good idea to replace the furnace with a power station. With great satisfaction, he recommended Suphung Hydropower Station in our country and he personally drew with a pencil the hydropower station and the pylon in the design. Soon afterwards, the design won the unanimous approval by the judges.

Main Task Should be Set Properly

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un met labor innovators and persons of merits participating in the celebrations of the 73rd founding anniversary of the DPRK at the office building of the WPK Central Committee and warmly congratulated them on September 8, 2021. Among the participants invited to the most honorable and happiest place of their lives were scientists who had made a great contribution to the country’s development of science and technology. Having a significant photo session with all the participants, he said in excited tones that the meritorious workers and labor innovators attending the banquet are precious ones whom our Party values as cornerstones and pillars of the country. The grand banquet made a start after a while. The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un asked the members of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee to toast the participants, and called beside him the scientists and technicians present at the banquet. He told them that the trust and expectation reposed by the Party on the scientists and technicians are great. What is important in the scientific research work is to determine proper research seeds and research projects, he said, adding that they should set major policy tasks calling for urgent solution in the economic practice as their research projects and solve them one by one on an annual basis. Then, he stressed that this is the main task to be held fast to in the scientific research sector.

Caring about Keys to Chests

One day the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited the completed Rungna Water Park. In a changing room, he took a look at the keys with number tags inserted in every chest. Staring at the keys for a while, he asked the officials where the people to use the water park keep their keys after putting their clothes and belongings in the chests and locking them. One of the officials gave his opinion. Hearing the answer, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un cast his eyes to the chests again. After some time in thought, he pointed at the watch strap around his wrist, explaining that keys should be fixed to the rubber straps like watch straps so that people could enjoy themselves conveniently carrying their keys around their ankles or wrists. Then, he took urgent measures for promoting people’s convenience by providing rubber straps to the water park.

Only by Our Own Efforts

It happened when the Korean People’s Revolutionary Army had their activities in small units after Xiaohaerbaling Meeting. The conclusion of the Neutrality Treaty between the Soviet Union and Japan caused ideological vacillation among some people who were not fully prepared ideologically but stained with flunkeyism. At that time, President Kim Il Sung gave valuable teachings to his soldiers around him on completing the Korean revolution by our own efforts. When we set out on the road of revolution, we had decided to make a revolution by our own efforts with firm belief in the strength of our people, not relying on others, and we had never dreamed about it, he said. He continued to say that a revolution is, in nature, made by the people by dint of their own idea and efforts and it could be neither presented by others nor on the market and that we would advance forward more bravely under the unfurled banner of completing the revolution only by our own efforts no matter how the situation might change and no matter what hardships and difficulties might block our advance. Bearing in their minds such priceless teachings of President Kim Il Sung, the guerillas were filled with a firm belief “Let cowards flinch and traitors sneer; we will keep the Red Flag flying here!”

March Route Set by Chairman ...

It was when Chairman Kim Jong Il was opening up a maiden route for study tour to the revolutionary battle sites on Mt. Paektu. On the day of arrival in Pochonbo, the Chairman set forth the orientation of the activity of the study tour party and asked the officials for their opinions about deciding on how far they could go from Pochonbo. The only reply from one of the officials was that they could go no farther than Samjiyon and Rimyongsu. Looking at them from one to another, the Chairman said it was understandable for them to have such an opinion of the route as the discovery of revolutionary relics reached no farther than the areas in and around Samjiyon and Rimyongsu. Saying that more revolutionary relics needed to be found in the areas around Mt. Paektu, he underlined the need to keep on extending the march route to reach Mt. Paektu eventually. His remarks greatly excited the officials. The present march route to Mt. Paektu was born of the firm faith of the Chairman.
