On a Morning-to-Evening Basis

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited the completed Sci-tech Complex in October, Juche 104 (2015). Seeing in joy the magnificent appearance of the Sci-tech Complex of charming architectural beauty, he said that he was really impressed by the construction speed created by our people. He added that even though creating new ones had been on a yearly basis until the previous year, nowadays it is on a daily basis, even on a morning-to-evening basis. On a morning-to-evening basis! Our people and service personnel still repeat this phrase in great excitement, visualizing the wonderful and beautiful appearance of the country with great pride.

Column of Love

The military parade in celebration of the 70th founding anniversary of the Workers’ Party of Korea in October, Juche 104 (2015) welcomed an extraordinary rank called the column of Paektusan Hero Youth Shock Brigade. This bears a moving story. One day in September, a month before the parade, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited the Paektusan Hero Youth Power Station. That day he said that every time our revolution faced difficulties and trials, he relied on the young people as his spiritual pillars who had volunteered to make a start of life at the construction site of the Paektusan Hero Youth Power Station with patriotic devotion, adding that he was firmly convinced that as there is such a large contingent of young people, our revolution will emerge victorious without fail. Then, he bestowed great benevolence on the brigade as regards the parade. That was how an extraordinary column named the Paektusan Hero Youth Shock Brigade column was added to the significant military parade in celebration of the 70th founding anniversary of the Workers’ Party of Korea.

Patriotic Appeal

In the first year after liberation, the richest harvest ever known was reaped in our country. The entire peasantry across the country turned out in the campaign of tax prepayment in kind with delight in having had a bumper harvest in the first-year farming thanks to the land reform. The farmer delegates from Sinbu myon (in those days), Sonchon County, North Phyongan Province, which had won the first place in the provincial campaign of tax prepayment in kind, had the honor of being received by President Kim Il Sung. Warmly welcoming and thanking them for having made such a long journey, he passionately shook them by the hands. They were so impressed and excited to be received by the President that they were all at loss about what to say to him. Listening to their incoherent talk, he praised them for successes in their work and said that what was the most important at the moment was to do one’s best at the construction of our country. Giving them valuable teachings that they should try their best to further strengthen the people’s government and do farming very well for the construction of a country, he continued to emphasize that they should, after going back, try hard to produce more crops, cultivate more cotton and silkworms for cocoon and do well in livestock farming, too. Then, looking over the whole delegation, he promised them he would also dedicate his all heart and soul to the construction. He also said that there would be nothing impossible for us when combining our efforts, strength and intelligence and firmly united as one, and appealed to them to build a powerful, good-to-live-in democratic country without fail. All the delegates were really excited at his teachings. Receiving the instructions of the President from the delegates, all the farmers in that area vowed, shedding their tears, to turn out in the construction of our country as one true to the President’s intention.

Earnest Request

In September some years ago, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited Kwail County, South Hwanghae Province. Appreciating their great efforts to produce a huge yield of fruit even in the face of severe natural disasters, he affectionately said the thought that our people would be really pleased to hear about the bumper harvest of fruit in this county cleared away his fatigue. Then, he earnestly asked for conveying his thanks to the officials and working people in the county who had made such a phenomenal success in the fruit farming. The officials felt a sudden rush of emotion. Nowhere on earth can we find such a benevolent father who extends his gratitude to the officials and working people who did what they were obliged to do. Indeed, it was the sincerity of only our respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, the peerlessly great man, who finds the true joy of life and the worth of making a revolution in the happiness of the people, and an expression of his great trust and expectation that the county would always take the lead in fruit production in the future, too.

Pushing a Trolley in Person

It was one day several years ago when the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited a shop in Pyongyang City. Going round the different places of the shop, he was acquainting himself in detail with the management and service, when he personally entered a goods display section with a shopping trolley. When one of the officials hurried towards him to push it along instead, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un told him that he was going to carry some biscuits in the trolley, which brought a smile to the faces of the accompanying officials. Even then, however, they never knew why he bothered to do so in person. The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un pushed the trolley around between the shelves stacked with goods so as to fully examine whether shoppers might feel any inconvenience or not. At last, the officials came to realize his intention. Looking up to the benevolent image of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, who shows a meticulous concern to ensure their service activities flawless, they were really impressed.

Meal on the Road

When he was inspecting the field training ground of a unit of the Korean People’s Army one day, Chairman Kim Jong Il dropped in at the field kitchen. It was about lunchtime, so the kitchen cart was giving out hot steam and the soldiers on the cook’s duty were busy preparing lunch. The Chairman took a look one by one at the dishes prepared for soldiers and at the pile of various kinds of foodstuffs on the cooking board. Then, he strode onto the cart and opened the pot lids one after another, saying that he wanted to see what soup was ready for the soldiers. After a while, the Chairman suggested leaving as it was time for the soldiers to have lunch. After some time of his journey, he asked the driver to pull the car to the roadside for lunch. What was waiting for him was little more than a glass of water and a rice-ball. With a broad smile on his face, the Chairman told the officials that he found himself even before his simple roadside lunch happy at the fact that the soldiers were enjoying a square meal with warm boiled rice and meat soup even in the period of field training.
