To Realize Plan for Capital Construction of Preside...

The order of the Supreme Commander of the Korean People’s Army on building Chongryu Bridge (stage 2) and Kumrung Tunnel 2 was issued on November 9, Juche 83(1994). According to the order, those projects were supposed to be completed by October 10 the next year that would mark the 50th anniversary of the Workers’ Party of Korea. On receipt of the news that Chairman Kim Jong Il issued the order, people across the country were in great excitement and joy. That was because it was an important and responsible undertaking to translate into reality the noble intention of President Kim Il Sung, who took huge pains throughout his life to provide our people with richer and more cultured living conditions. Having been reported that the project of Chongryu Bridge (stage 1) was completed, Chairman Kim Jong Il came out to the site to look round the suspension bridge, another monumental structure of the era of the Workers’ Party. He expressed great satisfaction at the peculiar and modern bridge. Saying that the suspension bridge was built in perfect harmony with Moran Hill, May Day Stadium and Taedong River, he stressed that when the stage 2 project stretching to West Pyongyang was completed, Chongryu Bridge would play an important role in solving traffic problems of Pyongyangites in a more efficient way. Modern Chongryu Bridge (stage 2) and Kumrung Tunnel 2 that connect the east Pyongyang and west Pyongyang areas were completed as grand monumental edifices of lasting significance on the occasion of the 50th founding anniversary of the WPK on October 10, Juche 84(1995), which made another stride in solving the traffic problems of the citizens and added more beauty to the scenery of the bank of the Taedong River.

Construction should Never be Ceased

One day the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited Mirim Riding Club with its completion just ahead. Wherever he went, he repeatedly expressed great satisfaction, feeling delighted beyond measure at the wonderful scene of the club. Mentioning that a great number of structures were built in our country, he said with pride that many modern monumental edifices conducive to the cultural and emotional life of people and promotion of their well-being sprang up. That day, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un earnestly asked the officials to carry on with construction for the people, saying that he was always thinking about what else he could do for our simple, diligent, revolutionary people.

Even without Breakfast

It was one day several decades ago. President Kim Il Sung visited Ryongchon ri, Hwangju County early in the morning. No sooner had he arrived than he headed out to a maize field, where he enjoyed the view of maize in good conditions for a long time, forecasting a rich crop of maize. Then, he said with great satisfaction that Ryongchon ri was entirely successful in maize farming. Looking up at the President smiling broadly with his accumulated fatigue behind, the farm officials hardly repressed their excitement at the thought of pleasing him even for a little while. However, they never knew that the President had missed his breakfast until quite a while later when the accompanying officials persuaded him to leave as his breakfast was waiting for him. The President told the farm officials feeling awkward: Now that we are expecting a good crop of maize, our people are going to enjoy better dietary life. So, missing a few meals doesn’t make any difference to my life. Just a look at the fields of healthy maize makes me feel satisfied. Stressing repeatedly the need to take good care of rich crops, the President set out on another journey of field guidance.

Take Responsibility for Safety of Project and ...

Whatever we make or build, it has to be world-class, a standard and model of the times so that people can benefit from it generation after generation ― this is the standard of creative activities put forward by the Workers’ Party of Korea. One day, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un told the officials that these days the slogan for taking responsibility for the safety of the project and guaranteeing its absolute quality for all eternity is found at every socialist construction site, stressing that a firm guarantee for high quality like this along with a high march speed of the Chollima upsurge is precious for us. The slogan reminds us of the magnificent monumental edifices of our times built on this land one after another including Munsu Water Park, Mirim Riding Club, Ryomyong Street, Songhwa Street, Terraced Residential District in Kyongru-dong, etc. Every one of the edifices is associated with the noble intention of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, who sets goals and ideals highest for the people.

On a Morning-to-Evening Basis

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited the completed Sci-tech Complex in October, Juche 104 (2015). Seeing in joy the magnificent appearance of the Sci-tech Complex of charming architectural beauty, he said that he was really impressed by the construction speed created by our people. He added that even though creating new ones had been on a yearly basis until the previous year, nowadays it is on a daily basis, even on a morning-to-evening basis. On a morning-to-evening basis! Our people and service personnel still repeat this phrase in great excitement, visualizing the wonderful and beautiful appearance of the country with great pride.

Column of Love

The military parade in celebration of the 70th founding anniversary of the Workers’ Party of Korea in October, Juche 104 (2015) welcomed an extraordinary rank called the column of Paektusan Hero Youth Shock Brigade. This bears a moving story. One day in September, a month before the parade, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited the Paektusan Hero Youth Power Station. That day he said that every time our revolution faced difficulties and trials, he relied on the young people as his spiritual pillars who had volunteered to make a start of life at the construction site of the Paektusan Hero Youth Power Station with patriotic devotion, adding that he was firmly convinced that as there is such a large contingent of young people, our revolution will emerge victorious without fail. Then, he bestowed great benevolence on the brigade as regards the parade. That was how an extraordinary column named the Paektusan Hero Youth Shock Brigade column was added to the significant military parade in celebration of the 70th founding anniversary of the Workers’ Party of Korea.
