One day in July 2018, the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un visited the Songmak Atlantic Salmon Pedigree Farm. As he went to a fish pond and looked into it, the General Secretary said with satisfaction that the outdoor ponds were full of fishes and that freshwater salmon is not only tasty but also more viable and grows faster than other kinds of salmon. Referring to the need to ensure the taste of fish at a high level, he said that not all large fishes are tasty and pointed to the need to raise fishes by setting correct weight limits according to their species in the future. Seeing salmon in the indoor ponds of Block No. 1, he also said that the Workers’ Party of Korea attaches importance to the farming of Atlantic salmon in the sea because it intends to produce tasty Atlantic salmon on a large scale and bring benefits to the Korean people.
