Marking the greatest national holiday, various sports and pastime games of the teaching staff and students were held in the university gym and playground.
Among all other exciting events the volleyball final of the teaching staff in the gym and football final of the students from the College of Mechanical Science and Technology and the Faculty of Metallurgical Engineering particularly highlighted the atmosphere.
All the players in the relay race and tug-of-war and other games demonstrated their high skills which were normally practiced, while the spectators raised the level of cheering passion, which further stimulated the players’ competitive spirit.
In the competition the College of Information Science and Technology took the first place, the College of Mechanical Science and Technology came second and the Faculty of Metallurgical Engineering came third.

On the occasion of the Day of the Sun, the most auspicious national holiday, celebration performance of the teaching staff and students was staged on Apr.13.

Players of Kim Chaek University of Technology took the first place in women’s volleyball (youth grade) at Paektusan Prize Games in celebration of the Day of the Shining Star held in the volleyball gymnasium in Chongchun street from Feb 18 to 27.
Seven teams including KUT team took part in this game. Coach Jong Sun Jong devoted her all to winning the victory by defeating all teams with scientific game strategy and tactics.
All players including Ri Hye Song, Ju Hye Song, O Yun Ju, Min Kyong I, Kim Su Jong and Pak Yu Jong etc, collaborated each other and gave full play to their team’s tactics, thus taking the first place defeating the rival by 3 to 2 in the final.

The performers in a male vocal three Song of affection for the People, a female solo Wherever We Go and See in the Country, a male solo Red Chol Pass praised ardently the eager yearning for the great General
A composite chorus and pangchang Our National Flag, a witty talk Blessing, a women’s vocal five Best Is His Embrace and a female solo Our Dear Marshal highly praised that our people are filled with the great national pride and self-confidence that we have been blessing with the great leader and the general from generation to generation as we have in high esteem the respected Comrade

The colorful sports and games of the staff and students were played successfully on the occasion of the meaningful Day of the Shining Star.
Several kinds of interdepartmental sporting events of the staff such as basketball, volleyball, table-tennis, tennis and badminton have been played in a strenuous way since they started on the 1st of Feb to reach the final stage on the 15th of Feb.
The Information Technology Institute, which has conducted mass-based sporting activities on a high tide for the last time in high response to the intention of our Party on making the whole country astir with enthusiasm for sports, won the 1st place in an all-round way by winning some games of basketball, volleyball, tennis and badminton of the staff.
Meanwhile, on the 16th of Feb were played colourful sports and games of students such as basketball, volleyball, Taekwon-Do, tug of war and running with balls in arms in the University Indoor Stadium, thus making festive mood more excited.
In every event all students fully showed the high sporting techniques and the might of collectiveness and unity as well as the ennobling mental and moral traits. As a result, the College of Information Science and Technology won the first place in an all-round way.

People’s Scientist, Doc, Associate Prof. Ri Jun Gi, Head of the Analytical Instruments Research Institute, Faculty of Metal Engineering was awarded the February 16 Sci-Tech Prize(Individual) for the 13th time for his playing a core role in “Developing the up-to-date analytic instruments based on the spectral technology”.
Doc. Ri Jun Gi and all the scientists in this research institute developed by their own efforts multi-channel atomic emission spectrometers for qualitative and quantitative analysis of ferrous & non-ferrous metal elements and near-infrared ray analyzers for analyzing organic components contained in all kinds of foodstuffs, medicines and feeds, thus promoting the economic development and improvement of peoples’ livelihood.
They are now redoubling their efforts to complete the flow-cytometers, which is the higher goal that they put up.
