The respected Comrade
Since he graduated from the university, Dr. Ri Si Hup worked as a researcher, vice-dean of science affairs, manager of scientific research and vice-president of science affairs for 51 years under the warm care of the Party. In those days he trained over ten science talents including doctors and wrote several books worth a treasure of the country such as “Encyclopedia of Metallic Materials” as well as 16 kinds of textbooks, reference books and essays of more than 40 000 pages, thus making a great contribution to the strengthening of the academic foundations for the major field.
Upholding the Party’s policy of giving priority to the science and technology, he waged a vigorous struggle to challenge others in terms of talent and search so as to complete research tasks arising in various sectors of the national economy and in the development of science and technology on the highest level. His achievements brought great pleasures to the great leaders and the respected Comrade

Mar. 8 is the International Women’s Day.
Marking this day, honorable women educationists who have made sacrifice of themselves for the education of future generation are blessing themselves with greetings of congratulations and gratitude. Not merely as mothers for one family but as meticulous and strict educationists for the fatherland, they bring up all the students to be excellent talents.
Among them are Prof. Doc. Kim Hye Won, lecturer in English who has made strenuous efforts to raise students’ English ability for 40 years, Doc. Assoc. Prof. Pak Kyong Suk, lecturer in Juche Philosophy who has done his best to bring up students into revolutionary talents armed with the Juche idea, the revolutionary idea, Doc. Asso. Prof. Chae Kum Sun, mentor in the Instruction Department who has been engaged in improving educational methods for 30 years to develop our university level onto that of the first-rate university, Doc. Assoc. Prof. Kim Sun Hui, Head of Department in the Faculty of Information Science & Technology who has brought up brilliant I.T technicians for 30 years.
Ryang Myong Jun, a student in the faculty of Mining Engineering says as following.
"I’m proud of such superb lecturers. We love and respect them. Marking this day, I sincerely wish my lecturers, flowers of the family and the fatherland to look young in good health."
How dare can we say that is the congratulation of a student to those?
They are not all. Other women lecturers at the university who have concentrated every effort to the academic work since young are now presented armful of bouquets.

Diverse amusement games and sports games were held at university.
Table-tennis match which had witnessed a fierce competition from February 6 reached the final stage on 14.
In the final, Faculty of Mechanical Science and Technology, which was active in mass sports activities, took the 1st place, and Faculty of Metal Engineering, Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Faculty of Materials Science and Technology did pretty good jobs as well.
Faculty of Heat Engineering and Faculty of Distance Education have always kept interested in the work of retaining our traditions even in the busy days of scientific and research work, thus taking the first places in Korean Janggi and Yut game respectively.

Performers from other faculties including Faculty of Metallic Engineering, Faculty of Automation Engineering, Semi-conductor Research Institute and Institute of Nano Physics Engineering excitedly sang the fact that our people are full of great national pride of having the leadership of the respected Comrade
Chorusing We’ll Go to Mt Paektu and Our Future is Bright, all the performances and audience expressed their firm resolutions to make brilliant successes in education and science this year, too by breaking through head-on all the barriers to our advance.

Many young students are devoting themselves in Yangdok County Hot Spring Resort and among them are Kim Jong Myong, Kim Thae Ryong, Ri Kwang Song, 1st year students from the Faculty of Information Science and and Technology.
They gave an impetus to builders who are working day and night by sending them building materials and consumer goods

Marking the Sports Day, colourful sports games of the teaching staff and students were held.
Bearing in mind the will to actively propel the building of a socialist thriving nation with proud fruition of successes in their work of education, scientific and technological research, in such games as football, basketball, volleyball, table-tennis and the like, they fully displayed their sporting techniques acquired in the days of doing sport, moral traits of sport and collective strength, thus enjoying the day.
