The 33rd Sci-tech Festival of Kim Chaek University of Technology was held in its gym between February 20 and 23 Juche107(2018).
On display in the festival were more than 200 excellent sci-tech achievements and advanced and new technology products the university lecturers, researchers and post-graduates made in recent days in their efforts to put the national economy on a Juche and modern basis by relying on local effort, technology and resources while focusing on research into basic sciences and the development of cutting-edge science and technologies, including “Laser application to the footwear industry”, “Integrated production system of the Pyongyang Mushroom Farm” and “Foaming technique of plastic shoe soles by supercritical carbon dioxide”.
The festival was held in the form of presentation, exhibition and exchange of sci-tech achievements, divided into nine panels including machine-building industry and information technology.
In the team event, “Laser application to the footwear industry” and three others took the first place, followed by “Technology of improving the metal extraction rate by pH control” and two others, and “Air-cooling roll hearth-type rolling heating furnace” and four others.
In the individual event, Kim Myong Il, lecturer at the College of Mechanical Science and Technology, and 10 others took the first place, Kim Chol Min, department chief at the College of Information Science and Technology, and 11 others came second, and Kim In Sik, department chief at the Resources Exploration Engineering Faculty, and 24 others placed third.
In the new technology products section, Ra Ju Hyon, department chief at the Metal Engineering Faculty, and another one came first, Hwang Je Hyon, lecturer at the College of Mechanical Science and Technology, and three others finished runners-up, and Ri Sang Hun, section chief at the Materials Engineering Faculty, and three others came third.

Kim Chaek University of Technology took the first place at the Codechef Programming Challengers’ Contest held from March 2 to12 Juche107(2018).
Unlike previous contests, the recent event was divided into two groups according to the contestants’ points. The contestants were required to earn above 1800 points in order to take part in Group A, and those who failed with the points were to belong to Group B.
Eight problems including one challenge were presented in the Group A contest which drew over 1 000 contestants from various countries including the DPRK, Russia, China, India, Bulgaria, Sweden and Portugal.
Kim Chaek University of Technology from the DPRK came first with 800 points by satisfactorily solving all the problems in the event.

The teaching staff and students of Kim Chaek University of Technology held a variety of sports and amusement games to mark the Day of the Shining Star, a greatest national holiday.
The teaching staff of each unit competed in volleyball, table tennis and badminton from February 3 to 15. The final matches were played on February 15.
The College of Mechanical Science and Technology won volleyball and table tennis events by fully displaying the collective spirit and high techniques they had cultivated through mass sporting activities in the past.
In the tennis and badminton events, the IT Institute and Distance Education College took the first place respectively.
In the total rankings the College of Mechanical Science and Technology placed first, IT Institute finished runner-up and Distance Education College came third.
On February 16, students played various sports and amusement games, namely volleyball, running with balls in arms and returning to the turn blindfolded, at the university gym, heating up the festive mood.
In the games they demonstrated high sports skills, collective spirit, unity, and noble mental and moral traits.

On the occasion of the Day of the Shining Star(February 16), one of the greatest national holidays, a celebratory art performance was given by the teaching staff and students of the College of Information Science and Technology at the university gymnasium on February 15.
The performance started with narrative and chorus Ode to Comrade
In male vocal solo and chorus The General Drives White Horse, female chorus White Snowflake of Longing, female vocal solo Wherever We Go and See in the Country, poetry and songs February Is Spring, female vocal solo A Long Road to Front of the General and chorus My Blessed Life, the performers reflected their ardent yearning for Chairman

The Symposium of Space Science and Technology 2017 was held in the Sci-Tech Complex from Nov. 28 to Dec. 1, Juche106(2017).
Thirty five valuable papers from the university, which they completed while making efforts to develop space science and technology of the country, were highly appreciated. In particular, Kim Song Sik, teacher of the Faculty of Social Science, clarified the purpose and methodology of conquering space on the basis of the Juche-oriented philosophy under the title: Juche-oriented World Outlook Is the Ideological, Theoretical and Methodological Line of Developing the Viewpoint of Space, won great admiration from the participants. The paper Study on Super Invar Materials Characteristics presented by Kim Tong Gil, a department head of the Faculty of Material Engineering, also attracted the attention of the participants. In this exhibition Song Hak Jin, teacher of the College of Mechanical Science and Technology, and two others won first place, Sin Jong Hyok, teacher of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, and 6 others 2nd place and Hong Kwang Myong, researcher of the Faculty of Material Engineering, and 8 others 3rd place.
